This is a simple list containing some of the implied
or symbolic meanings that can be gleaned from the use of numbers throughout
the Bible. These are not the only meanings, but are to the best of my knowledge
the generally accepted meanings. There are no scriptural references that
flatly state that any number means anything. So use this information with
some caution.
| One | Unity or the beginning |
| Two | Witness, agreement, or testimony |
| Three | Perfection, the Trinity, Jesus, the resurrection |
| Four | Man, humanity, humanism, material things |
| Five | Grace, God's help |
| Six | Imperfection, and another number for man |
| Seven | Completion |
| Eight | Resurrection |
| Nine | The end, the finish, completeness, sometimes seen as the result of putting other numbers together: 3 x 3 = 9, or 3 + 3 = 6 |
| Ten | Law and order |
| Eleven | Lawlessness and disorder |
| Twelve | God's rule or government on Earth: twelve apostles, twelve tribe of Israel |
