Teen to Adult, Memory Verse Activities

1.  Create your own bible alphabets using Scriptures from the bible.
Think of Bible Alphabets A thru Z or Personal Scripture Acronym - Anne
A - all scripture is given by inspiration of God
N - No weapon form against me shall prosper
N - Neither give place to the devil.
E - Enter into his gates with thanksgiving and into his courts with praise.

2.      Have the kids sit in a circle take whatever memory verse you are using that day, lean to the first kid and whisper the memory verse in their ear have them pass it on until you get to the last child. Since it is a new verse it usually gets messed up by the last kid, have him or her say it out loud. This is a wonderful example of how God's word can become twisted and mangled until there is almost nothing left of what he is trying to teach.

3.     Here's another memory verse game I played with my kids (ages 8-14)
As an example I will use 1 Peter 2:9
I first broke down the verse and printed each phrase with a picture that in some way goes along with it...for "chosen generation" I put pictures of babies around the phrase. Then, I cut out each phrase and pasted them onto different color contruction paper and mixed them up. Then, the children had to find the phrase that went after, "But you are a..."
The way I broke them down:
1. chosen generation
2. a royal priesthood
3. a holy nation...etc.
The kids were then split into two teams and each time they got the right phrase, I gave them 5 points. I gave them an extra 5 points if they could explain what the phrase meant (if possible). I also had a Bonus Point section where I put vocabulary words like,
The way I broke them down:
1.generation
2.statutes etc...
and gave them 10 points if they gave what the word meant and how we apply it to our spiritual lives.
