Repent, Repentance and Repenting

, 37 verses
(New International Version, NIV)
You can repent and ask Jesus into your heart anytime, anyplace. It is very easy, just say from your heart,
Father forgive me of my sins and Jesus come into my heart, fill me with you, and lead me in everything I do, lead me to a real good church and show me how to live my life, Jesus Name.
But many people want to know why they should repent? Because God says you need it.

Salvation is for everyone, but you have to want it with your heart
1. Matthew 9:11-13 (NIV), Salvation is for everyone 11. When the Pharisees saw this, they asked his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?” 12. On hearing this, Jesus said, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. 13. But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”
2. Luke 5:31-32 (NIV), Salvation is for everyone 31. Jesus answered them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. 32. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”
3. Luke 15:7 (NIV), Salvation is for everyone 7. I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.
4. Luke 15:10 (NIV), Salvation is for everyone 10. In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”
5. Luke 17:3-4 (NIV), Salvation is for everyone 3. “If your brother or sister sins against you, rebuke them; and if they repent, forgive them. 4. Even if they sin against you seven times in a day and seven times come back to you saying ‘I repent,’ you must forgive them.”
6. Luke 24:46-48 (esv), Salvation is for everyone 46. He told them, “This is what is written: The Messiah will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, 47. and repentance for the forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. 48. You are witnesses of these things.
7. Acts 2:38 (NIV), Salvation is for everyone 38. Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
8. Acts 3:18-19 (NIV), Salvation is for everyone 18. But this is how God fulfilled what he had foretold through all the prophets, saying that his Messiah would suffer. 19. Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord,
9. Acts 11:15-18 (NIV), Salvation is for everyone 15. “As I began to speak, the Holy Spirit came on them as he had come on us at the beginning. 16. Then I remembered what the Lord had said: ‘John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.’ 17. So if God gave them the same gift he gave us who believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I to think that I could stand in God’s way?” 18. When they heard this, they had no further objections and praised God, saying, “So then, even to Gentiles God has granted repentance that leads to life.”
10. Acts 17:22-31 (NIV), Salvation is for everyone 22. Paul then stood up in the meeting of the Areopagus and said: “People of Athens! I see that in every way you are very religious. 23. For as I walked around and looked carefully at your objects of worship, I even found an altar with this inscription: TO AN UNKNOWN GOD. So you are ignorant of the very thing you worship—and this is what I am going to proclaim to you. 24. “The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by human hands. 25. And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything. Rather, he himself gives everyone life and breath and everything else. 26. From one man he made all the nations, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he marked out their appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands. 27. God did this so that they would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from any one of us. 28. ‘For in him we live and move and have our being.’ As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are his offspring.’ 29. “Therefore since we are God’s offspring, we should not think that the divine being is like gold or silver or stone—an image made by human design and skill. 30. In the past God overlooked such ignorance, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent. 31. For he has set a day when he will judge the world with justice by the man he has appointed. He has given proof of this to everyone by raising him from the dead.”
11. Acts 20:20-25 (NIV), Salvation is for everyone 20. You know that I have not hesitated to preach anything that would be helpful to you but have taught you publicly and from house to house. 21. I have declared to both Jews and Greeks that they must turn to God in repentance and have faith in our Lord Jesus. 22. “And now, compelled by the Spirit, I am going to Jerusalem, not knowing what will happen to me there. 23. I only know that in every city the Holy Spirit warns me that prison and hardships are facing me. 24. However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me—the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace. 25. “Now I know that none of you among whom I have gone about preaching the kingdom will ever see me again.
12. 2 Timothy 2: 24-25 (NIV), Salvation is for everyone 24. And the Lord’s servant must not be quarrelsome but must be kind to everyone, able to teach, not resentful. 25. Opponents must be gently instructed, in the hope that God will grant them repentance leading them to a knowledge of the truth,
13. James 4:1-17 (NIV), Salvation is for everyone
Submit Yourselves to God 1. What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don’t they come from your desires that battle within you? 2. You desire but do not have, so you kill. You covet but you cannot get what you want, so you quarrel and fight. You do not have because you do not ask God. 3. When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures. 4. You adulterous people, don’t you know that friendship with the world means enmity against God? Therefore, anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God. 5. Or do you think Scripture says without reason that he jealously longs for the spirit he has caused to dwell in us? 6. But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says:
“God opposes the proud
but shows favor to the humble.”
7. Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8. Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. 9. Grieve, mourn and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom. 10. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up. 11. Brothers and sisters, do not slander one another. Anyone who speaks against a brother or sister or judges them speaks against the law and judges it. When you judge the law, you are not keeping it, but sitting in judgment on it. 12. There is only one Lawgiver and Judge, the one who is able to save and destroy. But you—who are you to judge your neighbor?
Boasting About Tomorrow
13. Now listen, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.” 14. Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. 15. Instead, you ought to say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.” 16. As it is, you boast in your arrogant schemes. All such boasting is evil. 17. If anyone, then, knows the good they ought to do and doesn’t do it, it is sin for them.
14. 2 Peter 3:9 (NIV), Salvation is for everyone 9. The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.
15. 1 John 1:9 (NIV), Salvation is for everyone 9. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

Jesus is the Answer
16. Romans 6:23 (NIV), Jesus is the Answer 23. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
17. Matthew 4:16-17 (NIV), Jesus is the Answer 16. the people living in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned.” 17. From that time on Jesus began to preach, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.”
18. John 1:1 (NIV), Jesus is the Answer 1. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
19. John 3:16 (NIV), Jesus is the Answer 16. “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
20. John 10:10 (NIV), Jesus is the Answer 10. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.
21. Acts 2:38 (NIV), Jesus is the Answer 38. Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
22. Acts 4:12 (NIV), Jesus is the Answer 12. Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.”

Father forgive me of my sins and Jesus come into my heart, fill me with you, and lead me in everything I do, lead me to a real good church and show me how to live my life, Jesus Name.
