Preschool, All About Jesus

1.
Jesus Loves Me
Jesus Loves Me, This I Know
For the Bible Tells Me So
Little Ones to Him Belong
They are Weak, But He is Strong
Yes, Jesus Loves Me!
Yes, Jesus Loves Me!
Yes, Jesus Loves Me!
The Bible Tells Me So
This is a really neat song that tells a very important story, if we listen carefully.
    Jesus -- Who is Jesus to you? A little baby in the manger at Christmas time? A nice man who helped sick people? A person who died on a cross? Let's talk about who we think Jesus is, then we'll talk about what the Bible says about Him. (Ephesians 5: 23; 1 John 1: 7; Col. 1: 3, 15, 19; 1 John 4: 9 - 14; Matt. 20: 19; Matt. 27: 50 - 54, Romans 4: 24 - 25, John 11: 25 - 26)
In the Bible it says that Jesus is God's Son. It also says that Jesus has always been alive in Heaven with God and that when God made the world and the planets and everything else, Jesus was with Him and nothing was made without Him. (Genesis 1: all)
Loves me- The Bible also says that Jesus loved us so much that He came down from Heaven to earth to live as a poor little boy, grow up and be killed to pay for the things we do wrong. That shows me how much Jesus loves me. No one else ever died for me! (1 John 1: 7; Col. 1: 3, 15, 19; 1 John 4: 9 - 14)
This I know- for the Bible tells me so- Do you know why I can trust what the Bible says? In the Bible it says that Jesus is The Word. He put the Words of God into the Bible by speaking to men for many years through His Holy Spirit. I know I can trust Jesus, so I know I can trust the Bible. (2 Timothy 3: 16; John 1: 1 - 4)
Little Ones to Him belong- Do you think that's just for children? God calls everyone who trusts in Jesus His children. I trust in Jesus, so I'm one of God's children too. Everyone, young and old, who put their trust in Jesus are Precious Little Ones who belong to God. (Matt. 5: 9; Luke 6: 35)
They are Weak but He is Strong- My Bible tells me that after Jesus died He came back to life again. Jesus was the only man who had the power to come back to life after He died. No one else has ever been able to do that for themselves. He's more powerful than anyone who has ever lived---that includes Samson, Hercules, He-man or any WWW wrestler in the world! (2 Cor. 12: 10; 13: 3, 4,)
So, when we sing," Jesus loves me, this I know, for the Bible tells me so", we'll really know what we're singing about!

2. I took a blow up boat to class took out all the chairs. We sat in the boat and told the story of the storm on the sea and how Jesus calmed the water.

3.       I used this game to help my fifth graders learn that you can know a little about someone and still not know who they really are. The lesson was on Who is God?
I wrapped an object in wrapping paper so that it was unrecognizable. (it can be anything.) I brought it to class and placed it on my desk in plain view of everyone. I used very colorful paper. The curiosity got the best of them. Each one of them raised their hand wanting to know what was in the package. I told them I would tell them once I got the attendance taken. While I was writing down the names of those absent, the children kept saying " Now will you tell us?"
So I told them we were going to play a guessing game and if anyone guessed what I had in the package, they could have it. Of course, I gave them 5 clues that were impossible to guess the object inside. After the five clues, I told them that time was up, opened the object (I used a candle, put it inside a box, and wrapped the box. The object is that they DO NOT guess what is inside)
When I showed them what it was, they were in awe. Wow, they said.
I told them, that even though they had a few clues as to what was inside, they really never knew what was in there, just as even though we learn a little about God each day of our lives, we will never fully come to know Him until we are with Him.
The children loved the game and asked if they could play new games like this.
