2. N.A.S.A. says the Morning Star (Rev. 22: 16), and the Evening Star,
are both the planet Venus. Yes, even today, many people look up into the
night sky and mistake planets for stars. And in fact, to the untrained
eye, planets do look like stars. The Morning star, is the first star seen
most evening, and the star seen latest in the morning. It is much brighter
then any of the real stars, because it is not a star, it's a planet. Venusis
much closer to the Earth and the Sun than real stars are and because
of it's thick cloud cover it reflects a lot of sunlight making it shine
very bright. That is why you can still see the Morning Star for about 15
minutes after the other stars have faded away each morning. In the olden
days people worked from sun up to sun down. The Morning Star was often
the first thing a person saw each day. Like the Morning star, Jesus should
be the first thing in our lives each day, standing out above everything
else. Praying the first thing each morning gets the day started right,
and bright.
- - Do not look directly at the Sun, you will damage your eyes - -
(Note: To see the Morning Star, get up just before dawn. Remember Venus
is between the Earth and the Sun. So Venus can be anywhere from directly
over head to where the Sun is coming up. Before the Sun comes up the stars
will start to fade away. It is possible that at the most, you may see as
many as four planets (they will look like stars) which will remain for
up to about fifteen minutes more then the rest of the real stars. To see
four planets you really have to be looking, but it is very common to see
Venus and Mars at the same time. Venus will be the closest and brightest
of all the planets you may see to the Sun. Mercury is closer to the Sun
than Venus, but it is very hard to see. (DO NOT LOOK AT THE SUN! and it
may damage your camera!) To see the Evening Star, Venus, look in the same
general area that you looked in in the morning. You might see the same
planets in the evening. The first star you see is the Evening Star, Venus.
If you happen to see up to four about the same time, they are planets.
The closest and brightest to where the Sun went down is Venus. The Evening
Star can be seen for about fifteen minutes before all of the real stars
start to shine.)
Skit Outline ideas:
NOTE: Creating historically accurate skits about Jesus being born in
Bethlehem and living in Nazareth, is hard and expensive. You would
need
to make all kinds of props and backgrounds. It is much easier to do
skits
based on life today, and show Jesus in action today.
1. Create a skit that shows two people talking and one shares Jesus.
2. Show someone that is afraid to go to school because of gangs and
violence, and
show how they need to pray for protection and deliverance.
(See the Sunday school lessons section )
3. Show someone that is trying very hard to learn and just can't get
it. That person needs
supernatural wisdom. James 1:5-10.
4. Show how a planet full of hate will destroy itself, but a planet
full of love will grow.
5. And yes you can have some fun too: Actors take turns reading a few
verses and
teaching. One reads Rev. 22: 16 and suddenly looks up
and shouts
"Jesus is the planet Venus" everyone else looks at him
and yells
"... NOT..." then explains why not.
