Definition: A cookie is a small piece of information that travels back and forth between the web site that you are trying to visit and your computer. Sites that use cookies are trying to track the names, addresses, and more of the people that use that site. Your computer already knows this information about you from the set up that you did when your computer was brand new. From time to time you will run into one of these sites, your computer will give you a warning box that tells you about the cookie (if you can understand what it says). You can either take the cookie by clicking on OK, or leave the site by using your BACK button, or stay and keep rejecting (cancel) the cookie. It may take several tries to leave. Some sites keep trying to give you the cookie the entire time you are there. Other sites only ask you to take the cookie a few times then they stop asking.
